"While there is perhaps a province in which the
photograph can tell us nothing more than what
we see with our own eyes, there is another in which
it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see."
Dorothea Lange (1895 - 1965)
Increasingly, I am realising that this is true. I am still surprised by some of my photos !
From the start, I have tried to be intuitive in my approach to photography. By that, I mean that I like to respond to how I feel rather than what I think: a poetic rather than an analytic response. I find switching off the technical/observer voice in my head very difficult - if not impossible - to achieve for more than a moment. But I know that my favourite photos have been taken when I have been feeling "at one" with a place.
