As young children we are taught to label the things around us and therefore to separate out objects from their background. I am drawn to explore the notion that the world around us is in fact a complex and subtle web of energy. The objects themselves; the boundaries of those objects and the spaces between the objects therefore assume equal importance. Each of my images represents a moment of stillness within the constant process of creation; a process whereby everything is in motion. Life is transient and fragile and also full of beauty. Shapes appear for a while only to be reabsorbed and disappear from view. We are given to focus sharply on the things that are important to us; to perceive other things less clearly and to completely miss key aspects of what is around us.
